Pickin berries, eatin berries, makin jam.

Compared to last year's impressive harvest, my garden is seriously slacking this year. That being said, Na hasn't got to do quite as much picking as she would liked so we figured a little trip to the the strawberry fields was in order. She picked and ate and picked and ate and made her rounds to help each and every one of us fill our buckets.... She was such a diligent little helper that we didn't even bat a lash when a half eaten berry made its way into said buckets ;) When we were all done day dreaming about wanting our own berry farm and we had more berries than we could carry (eight gallons worth between all of us to be exact), we decided to call it a day. I ended up freezing a bunch of mine to use with smoothies and I also made some AMAZING strawberry jam. We tried to go picking again last weekend but the fields are already closed for the summer. Wah, wah. So until next year, berry farm of my dreams. It's been real. <3

^^^And can we talk about what a big girl she looks like standing there holding her bucket?! Someone press the pause button, quick!

(I used this recipe, if you're interested... and it's pectin-free! I didn't bother with the water-bath though... just sealed it up and popped it in the fridge- this gives it a shelf life of one year in the freezer and one month in the fridge... and theres no way you'll make it that long without eating it all up, its beyond delicious!)

    1. How wonderful! I'm trying my best to get a strawberry patch goin over here but its taking a bit longer than I would've hoped. I think this last crazy winter we had was pretty hard on our plants too. Heres to hoping we can berry pick in our yard regularly next season! And thanks for the love, its good to be back :)
