When Chris turned 29.

I took Na to target so she could pick out a present for Chris for his birthday. She told me she wanted to get him a little blue truck so we went to the Target dollar section (also known as toddler heaven). Turns out they only had green and red trucks which was about to lead to a mini meltdown but I assured her there would be a blue truck in the toy section. (An amateur move making promises that I may not be able to keep, but you know...) We found the last little blue truck in the whole store and she proudly carried it to check out. She held onto that little truck with everything she had. She played with it for the rest if the day and when Chris came home from work she quickly gave it to me to "hide". Every morning until his birthday she would ask to play with the truck while daddy was at work and when his birthday finally came she could hardly contain her excitement- she was jumping up and down, laughing and clapping it was the cutest thing ever. She gave him the truck, shouted "happy birr-day to OUUU daddy!" And then promptly took the truck back and said "play with Navi now!"

We had a little family get together at our place to celebrate his turning of 2-9. Navi helped him blow out both his breakfast candle and his dinner candle.... with all the practice she's getting in blowing out everyone else's candles, she ought to be a pro by her third birthday for sure. I made chili and burned some cornbread muffins, and after cake we headed outside to enjoy the freakishly warm March day. The lake was still frozen but was in the slush stage so we were able to go out and play on it for a bit without slipping and sliding everywhere. Na skipped her nap so we tried our best to keep the good times rolling right up until bedtime so as to avoid any hairy situations when she finally realized how tired she was. It worked.

I've been celebrating his birthday with him since he was 17 and I gotta say, his hair stays the same but he definitely keeps getting more and more awesome. Hey, husband! Hope you had a wonderful birthday... and your welcome for the giant "masculine-ish" Snuggie... and let the record show that you told me tonight that it was one of your favorite birthday gifts ever ;)

^^^ We even squeezed in a couples date the day before his "party". We drove around trying to find a restaurant without an hour long wait and finally settled on pizza... then I panicked when I realized we hadn't taken any photos to document his actual birthday so we took some selfies (the usual) while waiting at the longest red light in the history of the world.

  2. The blue truck story is fantastic. It's stories like that that get me all excited for Declan to keep growing and developing. Just shows me the cuteness up ahead! And happy mega-belated birthday to Chris. I am apparently waaay behind in blog reading..
