Florida: Part 1.

We took our first vacation as a family of three a few weeks ago and it was all kinds of wonderful. I was SO nervous before we left worrying about how Navi would do on the plane and even more so how she would sleep away from home. All my worrying was for nothing (as is usually the case), she was such a champ on the plane and though sleep was a bit for the first few days, it certainly wasn't unmanageable. Navi likes reading, storytelling and playing with little animal figurines so much that the plane was SO her cup of tea. In fact, she seemed to enjoy the plane far more than the car. She had uninterrupted attention from Chris and I and an unlimited amount of snacks... she really couldn't have been happier about it.

The Florida sunshine was just what we needed and our trip happened to overlap with my (26th!) birthday so spending quality time with my favorite guy and gal on a gorgeous beach was hands down THE best birthday gift I've ever had.

Most of our pictures I took with my phone since a fancy camera isn't exactly the most realistic thing to pack in a beach bag and haul down 26 floors with a toddler...but I did take my big-girl camera down with me one day... I'll toss those pictures into Part 2 of the big Florida photo dump ;)
^^^ Frist time having her toes in the sand.
^^^ I can't even tell you how happy this picture makes me. So, so happy!
^^^ We did A LOT of bucket filling during this trip. She loved filling little holes with water and sitting and splashing in them. Also, since she pretty much decided she was going to start potty training right before we left for our trip, she liked to "flush" her pee when she peed in the sand. Yes, I'm that mom. I let her pee in the sand. High five.
^^^ Seriously the raddest chick I know. She was DEAD SERIOUS about wearing those sunglasses. If we ever took them off to wipe them she would freak out and say "too lunny (sunny)! too lunny!" until we put them back on her.
^^^ The only downside to our trip is that I was for whatever reason deathly allergic to our hotel room. I would be up all through the night sneezing and blowing my nose and I'd wake up in the morning looking like someone punched me in the eyes. On the plus side, I got to enjoy sunrises like this one.... So it wasn't all bad ;)

^^^ We went for a little nature walk one day at the local state park and she had so much fun tossing rocks into this little stream. It was all fun and games until the biggest mosquitos came out after sunset to snack on us....  you better believe we hauled ass back to the car after I got a doozy of a welt under my eye.
^^^ The view from our room was the most AMAZING sight. Floor to ceiling ocean views every were you looked, it was heavenly. These were some early morning happenings with my miniature sized yoga instructor ;)
^^^ Coffee on the porch with my guy while she took the longest nap in history. Seriously, she napped longer than she ever has... We were doing breathing checks and everything. True story.

P.s You are so brave for starting potty training before a vacation! And I see nothing wrong with a little beach peeing.
