We went to the pumpkin patch.

We went to the cutest pumpkin patch/orchard a few days ago. Navi and I were dragging around at home, both of us feeling a bit bored and I decided to brave the 30 minute car trip for some fresh scenery (seriously, 30 minutes with her in a car is enough to put me way over the edge. This girl does NOT like car rides! Thankfully, all went well this time around.). This particular little patch was tucked off a one lane dirt road in the yard of the cutest little farmhouse. There was a giant cornfield across the street, an old barn that served as the store for their heirloom apples and apple trees on all sides.... it was quite lovely.

We were on the hunt for two pumpkins and I let her pick out which ones she wanted. She chose what I'm guessing were two of the biggest pumpkins they had (29 and 39 pounders to be exact). When we wheeled them over to the barn to pay, her day was made when I realized they had sliced apple samples (food is SO the way to my girls heart!). After we loaded our pumpkin bounty into the car we wandered around the property for a bit. She picked flowers from their garden, purple for me, yellow for dad (always) and a little pinecone treasure for herself. But our favorite part of our trip was when we walked across the road to the cornfield. She never ventures too far from my side when we are somewhere new (or really ever, for that matter), but when we got to that cornfield she took off belly out, arms a'swinging, toddler running down the rows like she owned the place. We played peekaboo in the corn for quite a while and next time I really hope I remember to bring my real camera along, because it.was.gorgeous! We weaved in and out of rows, tossed rocks and dug in the dirt until her little heart was content.

Before having Navi, I distinctly remember seeing a mother at a pumpkin patch with her little toddler in tow. The little girl was wobbling along from one pumpkin to another, trying to lift ones double her size. The mother was snapping pictures and gathering mums and I remember thinking how excited I was to make memories like that with my children someday. This was it. And it was pretty spectacular. Memories, made.  Happy Halloween! :)
^^^ Bringing me flowers :)

As if the day wasn't full enough, it ended with some fresh apple cider through a cinnamon stick straw (have you tried this?! you have to try this!!!) and possibly one of my favorite things ever, my little sous chef helping me prepare dinner.
^^^ What did we do with those two giant pumpkins you ask? We painted them of course! Along with her pants, the sheet on the ground, one of my white curtain panels and a a light up-indoor type of pumpkin. And as is evident from this hysterical smile (?) when I asked her to take a picture with her pumpkins, boy did she have fun! Our first Halloween tradition together...heart=exploded.
