Fall around here.

We moved into our house last September and with all the hustle and bustle that is moving with a baby (or moving at all for that matter!), I kinda sorta didn't really appreciate fall the last time around. It's never been my favorite season, I've always been more of an eternal summer kinda girl, but each year it seems as though fall is really starting to grow on me (except last year when I pretty much forgot that it even existed). In fact, I suppose I would love fall if I didn't know what came after all the pretty, colorful leaves and such. So I must've spent last fall with my head deep in moving boxes because I definitely missed out on the beauty that is autumn around here! I mean seriously... I'm totally getting the whole "fall-for-life" mentality, this October is making a believer outta me...she really is quite the showoff!

Navi is having a bit of a hard time adjusting to the cooler temperatures I think. We've (plural) been in the water a few too many times with our clothes on and her daily pickings of strawberries from the garden are getting less and less... she's not too happy about that. The crunchy leaves, acorns all over the ground and bouts of rain have all been a big hit though. Taking Sandy for a walk in the woods is also all the rage at the moment. She gets in her stroller and I push her to the woods across the street with Sandy running along in front of us. When we get to the top of the hill she starts saying "out". She pushes her stroller (with my assistance) all through the trails in the woods until we get back out to the road. Then she either pushes it down the dirt road towards home or asks to get back in and I push her the rest of the way home. Sometimes we stop to get the mail. Or pick flowers. Or fill the stroller with rocks and acorns. She loves it.... and so do I. It feels like a real good for the soul type of adventure, you know?
^^^ I thought that all my squash plants were mismarked as zucchini... but turns out, one little guy was snuck into the bunch! High five!
^^^ I picked these wild grapes with the intention of juicing them... halfway through my juicing process I saw an unappetizing number of tiny spiders crawling around on my bounty. Needless to say the squirrels in my woods will be having quite the grape harvest tomorrow...sad face.
"Do-ooo-ruts" and a "Carm-Ap" (donuts and caramel apples).
^^^ I didn't notice it at the time, but when I looked through Chris's camera roll I found this picture... that little hand clinging tight to my arm (and those elbow dimples!) just makes my day!
^^^ First time in the hot tub. She was pretty impressed.
^^^ She told me she wanted to get in the lake. I told her it was cold so she could just put her feet in (because I'm a real stickler). Then she ran out to her knees, said "dunk" and sat down and then walked over to me while pulling at her clothes and saying "off". Safe to say we may have a bit of a hard time adjusting to the rules of fall over here...
^^^ My mom and dad recently got to enjoy our little woods trail with my explorer.
^^^ Sandy has really been cashing in lately. Navi wants a dog with her all the time... no matter where we are. Lately, Sandy has been filling that roll. So she goes in the woods, she comes in the car and she even accompanies us to all sorts of places that a non-social dog should definitely not be attending. Her and Navi are quite pleased with themselves over this little arrangement.
^^^ She picks me flowers when we go outside. Then my heart grows three sizes.

    1. Thanks, Marta... Chris has lived here his whole life but its really a dream come true for me... I feel pretty darn lucky when I lay my head down each night. And yeah, the spider infested grapes... I was so bummed. Especially since de-vining grapes is no easy feat!

    1. Since she is starting off this wonderful phase of wanting to give gifts, Chris and I have started a little box of goodies that she gives us... My dad kept one of these when I was little and it just fills me right up to the brim that I've got a "goody box" of my own now :) Oh, and come visit! We're waitin on ya!
