A picnic with my girl.

We went to the loveliest of nature centers on Friday. Chris and I always day dream of living in the beautiful old caretaker's house on site. Its seriously acres and acres of hilly trails and ponds and streams and botanical gardens and on and on and on.

Friday afternoon, my best gal and I packed up a little sack lunch and headed out to the nature center. Just the two of us. Tank tagged along as well. She requests that a dog comes with us everywhere we go now... and she calls the shots (obviously!), so into the van he went. We went for a walk and then laid out our blanket by a pond to eat our lunch. She shared her blueberries with Tank (but not her peas!), Tank snuck a swim in the pond when I wasn't looking (Navi tattled on him) and I just soaked in my girl while she soaked in the glorious 70 degree weather. I love so much that she loves the outdoors. She is just at peace when she is in the sunshine, you know?

Once we'd exhausted the fun to be had at the pond we walked over to a little stream area by the lake. We tossed rocks and splashed with sticks and sent leaf boats floating downstream. Before we left I wanted to get a picture of her and Tank and I to remember our little adventure. The whole trip had been pretty spectacular, but this is when the real magic started happening. She wanted to toss more rocks and I said "let mama take one picture first and then we will toss rocks, ok?... Mama, Na and Tank... smile for mama!" and then she busted out with the biggest, cheesiest smile I've ever seen and I about died right then and there! She has never smiled "on command" before... the only smiles I've ever seen have been of the genuine, happy as can be variety... which are obviously perfect... but there is just something about this big fake smile of hers that just makes my heart all kids of happy. When she saw the reflection of her smile in the iPhone she was soooo proud of herself so she kept looking up at me and busting out smile after smile. It was great. So, so great!

Also, as if the entire trip needed any help in the dreaminess department, we had on matching shirts. They said "best friends". Because I'm that mom. And YOLO and other such things ;)

First picnic = major success! (As was my first picnic ;)

  4. What are your thoughts on the amber teething necklace? Have you really noticed a difference while Navi is wearing it? I've thought about getting one but have heard a lot of them are knock offs and just plastic!

    1. The biggest difference that I've noticed with the amber necklace is that her drool production is wayyyy less. Other than that, I can't say if its made a real night and day type of difference. Maybe it takes the edge off a bit. Its so hard to say. But drooling is definitely reduced so I figure it must be doing something. I got hers from an amber shop so you will for sure want to be certain you aren't getting ripped off for a plastic one. Hope that helps :)
