When Dad comes home from work.

Around four oclock every day she starts asking about Chris.
"Dada?"
"Dada's at work baby. He will be home soon."

Normally she leaves it at that, maybe asking a few more times before 5:30 finally rolls around and Chris walks through the door. A few days ago it was a different story. She was really missing her dad and she just couldn't seem to shake the fact that it wasn't time for him to be home yet.

"Dada?"
"Dada's at work baby. He will be home soon."
"Gar? (car)"
"What about the car?"
"Byebye?"
"You want to go bye bye?"
**whining**
"Use your words, Navi."
"Gar? Dada?"
"You want dada's car?"
**whining**
"Gar-bye-bye-dada!?!?"
"You want to get in the car and go bye bye to see dada??"
**laughing and bouncing up and down**
"Dada will be home super soon I promise... You want to go outside and wait for him to get home?"
**laughs and runs to the door**

She played outside for a bit, and I distracted her from her daddy-woes with puffs and a fluffy friend. She kept a watchful eye on the road and when she saw Chris's truck pulling in she literally squealed. She did her own little version of running all the way up to the truck all the while saying "dada" with every ounce of excitement her little body could handle. He scooped her up and I think I had hearts coming out of my eyes, emoticon style.

  4. So sweet! My Christopher is six months and my heart is bursting with joy thinking of him doing that some day! I have been following your blog since I googled lap napping and your piece "Enjoying The Moment" made me feel much better about it. I only subscribe to one other non-family blog...the way you write is very entertaining to read while my baby naps on me. And it makes me smile thinking about him doing some of these things once he gets to Navi's age. Thanks for the heartwarming stories!

    1. Sarah, you are so sweet! Thank you so much for your kind words, you've totally made my day! Chris said watching Navi run up to his car was one of his favorite "daddy moments"... when you're Christopher is old enough to do the same I think you'll agree with me that it was a pretty fantastic "mama moment" too! I'm so, so glad you found some comfort from the lap-napping post... its a tricky thing, those lap naps- it makes me happy to know I could help out another mama thats walking down this road with me. Thanks for following along, I'm so glad you're here!

  5. How adorable is that?? My baby boy is just recognizing his dad and now studies dad's face. But little man is still so mom-centered. I can't wait for this moment... it is just so beautiful! What a lovely family you have!

    1. Thank you, Alexandra!!! I hear ya on the "mom-centered" thing.... sometimes I really wonder if Navi would like to climb back in to my belly for a little campout ;) As much as I love all my mama-time with my girl, some of my very favorite moments have been watching her spend time with her daddy. There's just something so sweet about seeing the two people you love most, love each other, you know? Ughh, I just get so sappy about those two! Congrats on your baby boy :)
